A Variety of Uses for Insulated Coolers

| March 15, 2011

When thinking of insulated coolers, many people picture either the old disposable coolers made out of Styrofoam or the hard plastic coolers with the lids that always fall off or fail to seal properly, helping everything inside get warm before you arrive at your destination.  These coolers may hold fond memories of the past but they are impractical when coping with a family wanting to enjoy outdoor dining.

Anyone wishing to get the benefits of an insulated cooler should check on the new types of coolers available.  Many have a zippered lid, so there is no danger of them opening at the wrong time, and the lid will stay in place under almost any circumstances.  They even have the option of handles or straps, so that they can be carried on the shoulder or as a backpack.

Many of the new insulated coolers also can be collapsed into a smaller space for storage.  This can come in handy when you have limited space in your home or car but still want to have a cooler on hand.  The collapsible versions are made with a soft vinyl that allows them to be folded for easy storage, but they can be opened to hold up to twenty-four cans of most beverages.

There are even coolers made specifically for glass items, such as bottles of wine or other alcohol that you would want to transport to your event.  This is great for tailgate parties where the people attending may want to have a cocktail before they enjoy the food and the game.  These types of insulated coolers are also ideal for taking to a gathering of friends and family.  There will no longer be a need to chill the wine before serving, because it will arrive at the perfect serving temperature.

If you are looking for something that is easy to transport and can help you move your cold drinks to your seat in the stadium, there are even coolers that are on wheels.  Many of these coolers feature an extendable handle that will help you transport your drinks without having to carry a heavy cooler.  They usually have wheels similar to those found on rolling luggage, which makes them ideal for transporting your cold items.

Insulated coolers have come a long way from the early days of hard, rigid coolers that are hard to store or use.  Collapsible coolers and coolers on wheels are just some of the advances available to the user looking to keep cold drinks on hand at any event.
