Fun Places to Take Your Picnic

| August 22, 2012

Picnic baskets make numerous appearances in the summer months and on into the autumn and beyond in some areas of the country. Picnics have been popular in the United States for well over a hundred years, and the popularity shows no sign of waning. You can find a number of fun places to take your picnic this summer. Here are a few ideas of some places that you might want to try.

The Beach and the Park

The beach and the park are two time-tested classics when it comes to picnic locations. In both areas, you will want to bring a blanket so that you do not have to sit on dirt, grass or sand. The blanket can also help to ensure that nothing gets onto the food. Find local parks and beaches in your area and make sure that they don’t have any restrictions about bringing food to them. Most of the time, you aren’t going to have any trouble bringing food to those locations. One of the nice things about having your picnic at the beach or the park is that your family and friends will have plenty of other activities to keep them happy.

Outdoor Movies and Other Night Picnics

Many communities now offer events such as movies in the park, and that’s another opportunity to pack up the picnic baskets. Drive-in theaters can be a nice outing as well, and bringing your picnic basket to the theater will ensure that you don’t overspend on food. Even heading out into the park to gaze at the stars with a picnic can be fun.

The Backyard is Still Fun

Of course, you might not want to go anywhere for the picnic, and that’s fine too. Families have been having picnics in their backyard forever! It’s a great option when you want to eat outside but you don’t want to fire up the grill. Just pack up the picnic baskets just as you would when you were heading to the park and step out into the yard instead. It’s fun, it’s easy, and it even saves on gas.

These are just some of the options that you have when you are planning your picnic. If you have a boat, consider taking your picnic out to sea! Come up with your own fun places to have a picnic and make a tradition out of it. Your friends and family are sure to have a great time.
