What to Bring on a Picnic

| October 3, 2012

If you’re in the mood to plan a good old-fashioned picnic then you may be wondering what you should bring along with you to make your picnic a success. While bringing food is a given there are also other supplies that will make your picnic more comfortable and more fun too. Before you go on your next picnic make sure you have each of the supplies listed below so that you can enjoy your picnic to its fullest extent.

Picnic Basket

Good picnic baskets are harder to find than you think. A specialty picnic basket store, whether online or off, will carry the widest array of picnic baskets that are made to handle different types of picnics. For instance, if you hike and want to hold a picnic on top of a mountain then you will appreciate picnic backpacks rather than the typical wicker baskets that are more commonly found.

Depending on your venue you may need to bring along a thicker or a thinner blanket. Thicker blankets are good for keeping grass and leaves from poking through and making picnic goers legs itchy. Thinner blankets on the other hand are easy to carry if you have a long way to walk or hike before you get to your final destination.

Lanterns are helpful if your picnic will be taking place around sunset. While a sunset picnic is very romantic it’s not quite as lovely when you end up trying to eat your dinner in the dark. Pack a battery operated lantern and you won’t have any problem looking into each other eyes during your picnic no matter how late it gets.

Plates and Utensils

Sometimes, in the excitement of packing your picnic basket you might forget to pack plates, glasses, and utensils. To prevent this from happening buy your picnic baskets with these supplies already included. Not only does this keep you from forgetting them, but picnic baskets that already include plates and utensils also have storage built into the basket so you won’t be taking up valuable food space.

While a picnic is a fun way to spend your day you might end up wondering what to do once you are finished eating. Bring along some entertainment so there is no chance of getting bored during your picnic. A pack of cards, board game, book, magazine, or an MP3 player with travel speakers can provide all the entertainment you’ll need.

By making sure you have all the necessary equipment before you set out on your picnic you won’t risk getting to your picnic and wishing you hadn’t forgotten the one thing that would make the event perfect.
